In this discussion-based course, we will focus on Dostoevsky's last and longest novel, The Brothers Karamazov. We will frame our reading of this novel with a few of Dostoevsky's short fiction and nonfiction works. Our close textual readings will be enriched by literary theory and primary documents providing socio-historical context. All readings are in English translation. No prerequisites. All students welcome.
